Thin, limestone and slate soils, hot and dry summers, autumn sun and foehn winds that drive the final sweetness into the grapes; passionate winemakers, sophisticated and environmentally-friendly viticulture – guarantees for premium wines like those produced in the Leuk region.

Switzerland’s oldest vine grows right in the centre of Leuk-Stadt, a Cornalin, which was planted in 1798. The winemakers belonging to the association “Vitis Antiqua” had offshoots grafted from the old vine, which they planted in a main garden in a prime location in Leuk. Today, the Cornalin “Vitis Antiqua 1798” is one of Switzerland’s prize-winning wines.
